Bonsai Artist - Austen Kosasih

This "Miracle Pine" tree (left) was a 250 year old pine that survived the 2011 Japan tsunami. It became a symbol of hope for the Japanese. To commemorate the 5th anniversary of the tsunami, I created a living bonsai specimen of the "miracle pine" as a symbol of hope and prayer to the victims. This bonsai will be for sale along with other bonsai trees and part of the profit will be donated to the charity

Miho Araki from Ebisu Design will be attending this event and doing some calligraphy demonstrations, she would be happy to write your name in hiragana on the spot!! Please come along and say hello

Fukushima Five Years On

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/12184021/Fukushima-five-years-on-Grief-ridden-search-for-tiny-signs-of-the-dead-in-Japan.html

Our aim of the event coming up on Friday, 11/March, is to show support and raise as much funds as possible to support the Nichigo (Japan-Australia) Junior Program. We have hope and belief that the Tohoku region will recover soon, perhaps infrastructure point of view, but we also should remember that many survivors need a lot of time to heal from the loss and trauma caused by the unprecedented disaster.
Please join the event http://www.trybooki...ng.com/KCJN
